Use when: your feed is trying to yank you around.
Goal: keep shared reality without becoming smug or cruel.
The three buckets
- Confirmed: supported by strong sources
- Plausible: possible, not verified yet
- Unknown: we don’t have enough
Before you share (30 seconds)
- What’s the original source?
- Is there a primary doc / credible report?
- Is the claim specific enough to verify?
- What emotion is it trying to trigger?
- Would sharing this help anyone do a useful thing?
The “one-link rule”
If you share, share:
- one credible source
- one sentence takeaway No doom thread.
Correction script (no shaming)
“I might be wrong, but I checked this because I’m trying to avoid rage-bait. Here’s what I found: [source].”
Watchouts
- Certainty addiction (it feels good, it lies)
- Snark as a coping mechanism
- Fighting in comments (usually pointless)
What success looks like
You share less. You verify more. You stay human.
